Camden’s busy, loud, and iconic for a reason. You’re just north of the canal in the Borough of Camden, with King’s Cross and Euston close enough to matter. If you’re considering living here, it’s worth knowing what day-to-day life feels like once the weekend crowds ease off.

Centred around Upper Street and the stretch between King’s Cross and Highbury, Angel feels easy to live in. There’s plenty on your doorstep, and the quieter residential streets sit just a turn away from the busier bits.

If you like the idea of living next to Regent’s Park, Primrose Hill is probably what you’re picturing. It sits between Camden Town and St John’s Wood, and it’s polished, pricey, and popular for a reason. Helpful if you’re weighing up whether it’s the right fit.

Islington changes quickly from street to street, which is part of the appeal. The borough runs above the City from the Angel end up towards Highbury and Holloway, and different pockets suit very different kinds of day-to-day life.

Kentish Town is a good middle ground if you want North London convenience without the constant buzz. You’re in Camden between Camden Town and Tufnell Park, with the Overground and Northern Line making it easy to get around, and a high street that’s genuinely useful.

Finsbury Park gets picked for the practical stuff: strong transport links and a huge green space. The area clusters around the station on the Haringey/Islington edge, and it feels much more residential once you step back from the main roads.

Right next to Camden Town, Chalk Farm runs up towards Primrose Hill and across towards Belsize Park. It’s close to the action, but it doesn’t feel quite as intense, which is exactly why some people prefer it.

Tufnell Park is calmer and more residential, but still close to Camden and Kentish Town. It sits between Kentish Town and Archway, with Hampstead Heath not far away, so you get a bit more breathing room without feeling cut off.

Busy, well-connected, and straightforward to live in, with the Emirates Stadium area nearby. You’re in Islington between Highbury and Archway, and the feel changes depending on whether you’re near the main roads or tucked away on the back streets.

Caledonian Road is less one neighbourhood and more a long stretch with different feels along it. From the King’s Cross end up towards Holloway and Camden’s edge, it’s handy for transport and full of smaller local spots.

Agar Grove is a small Camden pocket near York Way, on the King’s Cross side. It’s best known for the Agar Grove estate and the way the area’s changed over time, from the old “Agar Town” history to major social housing redevelopment and newer, sustainability-led projects
